A New York–Meets‑Arizona Celebration at Montelucia
When Chrissy and Steve chose Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia for their October wedding, they wanted a day that felt like them: timeless, slightly edgy, and absolutely packed with good vibes. Set against Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley, their black‑and‑white celebration with hints of green and chocolate brown turned the Valencia Lawn and Alhambra Ballroom into a full‑scale experience from ceremony through last song.

Why Montelucia Was the Perfect Fit
The couple chose spaces that showed off the property while keeping the day logistically smooth.
Valencia Lawn for an outdoor ceremony framed by the mountains.
Alhambra Foyer for an indoor‑outdoor cocktail hour that felt like a resort party.
Alhambra Ballroom for a reception that comfortably fit 170 guests, a large dance floor, full lighting, photo booth, and even a tattoo artist.
This layout kept transitions tight and gave guests a natural flow through the resort without feeling spread thin.

The Vision: Black‑and‑White with a Party‑First Energy
Their theme was a classic black‑and‑white palette with touches of green and chocolate brown—elevated but not stuffy. The guest list skewed heavily twenties to forties with a crowd Chrissy and Steve confidently rated a “9” out of 10 on the party scale.
That combo drove a lot of our decisions:
Full‑room, real‑time programmed uplighting to warm the ballroom and tie into their color story.
An all white DJ booth furniture and matching speakers to blend into the décor.
A glam photo booth with black‑and‑white prints so guests had something to do and share between dance‑floor runs.
Rather than treating the reception as “just dinner and dancing,” the couple layered experiences throughout the night. Guests could rotate between the dance floor, a glam photo booth, a tattoo artist station, and late‑night snacks at 11:00 p.m., which kept the room active and full through last call.

Timeline Highlights Vendors Care About
The day was structured to protect photography, planning, and venue needs while still feeling high‑energy for guests.
Late‑afternoon ceremony on Valencia Lawn, with a short transition to cocktail hour in the Alhambra Foyer.
Ballroom reveal timed so the couple saw the full setup exactly as planned before guests entered.
Plated dinner service that gave catering and photo teams clear windows for service, speeches, and room shots.
Cake, toasts, and parent dances stacked efficiently to minimize resets and keep guests engaged.
Working closely with McKenna Katherine Weddings, Carmelá Joy Photography, Clicked by Carly, and the Montelucia team, we coordinated load‑in, sound checks, and lighting so no one was fighting for time or space. The result for the venue and planners: on‑time transitions, clean room flips, and a ballroom that stayed visually on‑brand from first look to last song.

Planning Your Own Montelucia Wedding
If you’re planning your own wedding at Omni Montelucia—or anywhere in Scottsdale or Paradise Valley—the big wins from Chrissy and Steve’s day were simple: a thoughtful layout, clear timeline, and intentional guest experience from start to finish. Building everything around Valencia Lawn, the Alhambra Foyer, and the Alhambra Ballroom kept the day walkable, easy on guests, and smooth behind the scenes for your planning and vendor team.
We recommend:
Keeping your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception within a short walk so guests never wonder where to go.
Scheduling a private ballroom reveal so you see your reception space fully finished before anyone else walks in.
Put your focus on what matters to you. If entertainment is important make sure to invest in a DJ or band who has great reviews and years of wedding experience. Hopefully your planner has worked with them before. A vendor team that knows each other makes for that extra magic at weddings. If open dancing is over 3 hours be sure to add other aspects such as photo booth, bar, lounge area for grandparents, snacks. Pro Tip: keep these in the same room as dancing so you’re not pulling people away from the main social space.

After‑Party Ideas Near Montelucia
If your crowd isn’t ready to stop after the reception, an after‑party is a great way to keep the energy going without extending your venue hours. For couples who want to keep it going, you can consider options like:
Little Woody – Cozy, speakeasy‑style neighborhood bar with a fun, low‑key vibe and DJ.
Horse & Hyde – Great spot for a group bar take‑over feel and late‑night drinks with live music.
Dilly Dally Lounge – Full‑on classic dive bar energy, perfect for guests who just want to hang out and recap the night.
Old Town’s Rockbar rooftop – Livelier, party‑forward vibe with a rooftop atmosphere right in Old Town Scottsdale.
Coach House – Indoor/Outdoor dive bar right near Old Town Scottsdale.
These kinds of spots give you an easy “after‑party location” to share on invites or your website so guests know where to go once the reception ends.

What We Do as Your DJ Team
As your DJ team, our job goes way beyond just playing music. We’re there to support your planner and venue with open communication and smooth transitions to enhance moments you’ll actually remember.
A few things couples love:
We make working with you personal so we aren’t a stranger at your own wedding.
We coordinate with your planner, photographer, and venue so key events (like cold spark entrances or first dance) aren’t a surprise and they are captured perfectly.
It’s no accident, it’s curated. We plan the details that make moments special like inviting you behind the DJ booth for a song or two—this always turns into a huge highlight for the couple and their guests, and it photographs incredibly well.
If you’re building your own Montelucia (or Scottsdale/Paradise Valley) wedding, tell us what you’re dreaming up and we’ll send back a custom game plan, clear pricing, and how we’d support your planner and venue to pull it all off. No pressure, just options that actually fit your crowd.
